Here’s another one with lots of harmony. The question: to quantize or not to quantize? The answer: to be able to play it right in the first place would be best. But I’m coming to the view that some judicious quantizing (using ‘groove templates’ at a percentage of full quantize) is generally desirable where things otherwise sound a bit loose and woolly.
This one started, as ever, on the piano and grew from there. Having a solo violin against section strings seems to lend a degree of authenticity and bringing the piano in and out helps the piece to ‘breathe’.
