Here's a bit of fun; hope you like it. I've taken a simple riff and seen where it has taken me. Actually, it ran away with me a little, hence the title. I think it has a certain driving insistence which might lend itself to a fairly dynamic sequence.

What it does have is a 'guitar riff', with a sort of contrapuntal secondary riff working against it. I've panned these left and right to create some space and the illusion of actual players in a space. There is a basic drum loop, which has a nice syncopated feel in the bass (kick) drum. This is then augmented with a low, soft synth bass and an extra bass drum. Over the top of these come in a filtered sustained synth sweep and another synth with an off-beat feel that adds extra impetus.

I've put some amp simulation on the guitar sounds to dirty them up a bit and some fairly hefty limiter and compression on the whole mix. Structurally, I tried-out Sonar's facility for loop-clips to follow a project pitch, which is inserted as markers in the time line. It's very handy for working quickly, where you have looped clips that need to move relative to chord progressions. In this case, I played around with different modulations, so that there is a sense of rising tension. These don't simply rise in a uniform fashion but I've tried to tread a line between inevitability and unpredictability.
