This was an early draft for a commission from an advertising agency, to accompany footage of racing cars, then a driver's point-of-view racing across Europe, ending with a shot of a futuristic solar-powered vehicle.
The music aims to capture the energy and excitement of motor racing, coupled with the idea of a journey and a hint of something unusual and futuristic. The little piano motif at the start gives the sense of something about to happen, underpinned by the muted bass (which also has echoes of 'The Chain' - famously used as the theme to TV motorsports). When the drums kick in, these are accompanied by screaming guitars and a persistent bassline to signify the journey, with strings adding a little extra narrative. The piano motif at the end, together with mysterious synths provide a little question-mark at the end: a kind of 'what next?' moment.
