I’ve been thinking about how to produce orchestral scores quickly and effectively, without needing to
play-in all the instrument parts separately, since much of this is just texture and won’t need to be of such
startlingly high quality. So here’s a piece that attempts to blend some off-the peg orchestra patches with
more precise samples of key instruments.
The music was triggered by watching a well-known TV documentary series, the music for which was none
too impressive. Plus, I’ve become aware that there is a need for ‘action and adventure’-style music among
music libraries. So here is a quick sketch that hopefully fits that genre and sounds OK without having taken
up more time or resources than were available to me. It’s not particularly evolved but really takes one idea
and runs with it, using a typical AABBAA structure, with a little 8-bar intro that comes back as bridge and
coda. On the final repeat, I’ve stepped up a tone (a technique guaranteed to make reality TV audiences wet
their pants) and added some choir to give a little extra something. As often is the case with my orchestral
efforts, there are many layers that could be dismantled and used to derive further material.
