No time to compose anything structured for today, so I did some atonal (tonal? – discuss) improvisation at the piano. What then happened was I had one idea that I wasn’t sure about, then did something in a different style. I thought it would be fun to audition the two together but they didn’t really mesh, so I went back and did another track to respond to the first and played them using the ‘piano duo’ samples in Garritan. Hey presto: instant (a)tonal duet!
But is it music? Does it matter? It’s all part of the process of discovery that feeds the imagination and frees the spirit.
