This track was part of a recent spate of pieces produced whilst trying out some new sound sources. One of which is a loop-sample player called 'Beatscape', which I used to produce the rhythm track. The result is really no different to layering loops in the normal way, the only difference being that this program enables you to load multiple loops and trigger them on the fly, so making the whole process potentially quicker and more intuitive. In the event, I'm not sure it helped particularly in this instance but I'll be sure to try it some more over the coming days and weeks.
I've also played around with mix automation on this track. You'll notice that the heavily distorted guitar in the background creeps around a little in the stereo spectrum and also becomes more prominent as the track progresses, increasing the tension. There are other more subtle tweaks in the mix as well and I think these help to sustain interest and a sense of progression. Some of the bass playing is a little awry and the lead synth pushes the bounds of decency occasionally but I'm not sure I mind too much.
