The opening deep piano chords for this piece popped up while I was playing around with some ideas and
then the rest followed quite swiftly. I liked the slow, deep, sustained piano sound. However, in responding to
that starting-point, I ended up virtually remaking an existing track by a well-known band, so had to use the
synth and loops to divert attention way from the near plagiarism. I realise that I used the same rhythm loop
only a few days ago on another track but I think it works rather well in both cases and the effect is quite
different.
It’s amazing really how adding an interesting loop to something can change its dynamic and impact quite
dramatically. I like the movement in the synthetic drum loop against the long held chords. The second loop
that comes in along with the bass and lead synth gives extra momentum and again, there is a nice contrast
between this and the sustained synth tones. If you listen to the overdriven organ and the lead guitar that
comes in later, in conjunction with the piano and think about the title, you may be able to spot the rip-off
(unintentional though it was). Answers please on a postcard.
